Neotec design - just squeeze the grip at the top of the Manfrotto 685B monopod and the leg sections drop down, as soon as you have the height that you require let go of the grip and the sections will be locked into place, the 685b also featurs a safty lock feature that prevents the leg collapsing by mistake. For maximum versatility and for vertical shooting you will require either a tilt head or a ball & socket head to complete your monopod.
